It turns out that even the Air Force is paying attention to Cloud Computing, especially the privately-labeled variety. Although this particular cloud will be branded (and looked after) by Big Blue, it’s an announcement that has implications for all privately and publicly-held companies looking to offload their storage to an external or virtualized server in order to reduce the cost of server bloat. Note that the doubling of the global spend on cloud computing in the next three years mentioned in the article illustrates it’s not only the Air Force that’s paying attention to private cloud computing and virtualization. Businesses everywhere are also becoming aware of its value. Ok, we’re not talking national security here but isn’t your data just as important as the packets being swapped up and down the Potomac? By the way, did we mention you don’t have to be the Air Force to use offsite or virtualized storage? Venyu offers those services and more, and at a considerably more attractive price point than our Armonk-based brethren. And of course we’re perfectly OK if you’d still like to call what we do “ hosting”.
