If you’re into network security then you have heard of NMAP, the free network security analyzer. Well today insecure.org has released a new version of the venerable security tool NMAP 5.0. The release of the new version brings new features to the analyzer. Ncat is a general purpose network connector similar to netcat and can be user to do things like TCP/UDP/SSL server and client, TCP/UDP redirection and proxy server, encrypting communication with SSL over both IPv4 and IPv6. And it runs on all major operating systems such as Mac OS X, Linux , and Windows. Additionally the new NMAP Scan Comparison tool can be used to compare scans of your network and report on any changes to the network or systems on the network. Also new to version 5.0 is the inclusion of a scripting engine that will allow you to write simple scripts to automate common networking tasks. Included in the release are some template scripts that you can run. Some of the included scripts are MSRPC/NetBIOS attacks, Vulnerability probes, open proxy detection, brute force attack scripts against both SNMP and POP3 , and many more.
